Winter is here! We all know that taking care of your lashes is important year round, but there are a few extra things to consider as we go through the winter months. Just like our skin and hair, our lashes can change because of the colder temperatures and lower humidity levels. It is possible that you will notice a change in your lash growth cycle and because our eyelash extensions need moisture our retention can suffer also. Whether you fancy winter conditions or not here are a few tips to add to your winter beauty routine!
Moisturize—But not those lashes!
You are probably already moisturizing more than before but keep those moisturizers off your lashes and double check the ingredients! You don’t want oily or waxy products even near your eyelashes extensions.
Schedule your fills
I hope that you (and your clients) are already scheduling regular fills, but keeping up on your fills every 2-3 weeks will help beat any changes in your lash growth cycle and keep your lashes healthy and looking good through all the holidays and cold months. Lashes tend to grow slower in the winter but grown out lashes still need to be removed.
Steam with caution
I know how nice a steam room, hot tub dip, or extra hot shower can be after an extra chilly day, and by all means, get warm! While steaming avoid touching your lashes and don’t keep your eyes in direct steam or heat. Make sure to wait the full 24 hours after your full set to indulge, and wait until your lashes are cooled down after being exposed to heat before touching and brushing.
Don’t skip your veggies
Eating a balanced diet or even adding a vitamin regimen will help promote healthy skin and hair! Our lashes need an extra boost while we are lacking in certain vitamins and minerals during the winter.
Keep up your regular good work
It’s still important to keep up our normal lash maintenance while we simultaneously survive winter. No picking, pulling or rubbing, remove any makeup every single day, and keep your lashes clean with a cleanser.
