QUALITIES OF A GOOD LASH SET

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LASH SET

Dramatic, natural, classic, volume, hybrid— whatever the style, all good lashes always share the same basic qualities. These few qualities should be present in every lash set and will give the finishing touch.

Direction

Good direction can make or break the finished result. The eyelash extensions should all be pointed in the same direction—otherwise the lashes can become tangled, twist or weigh down the natural lash, and overall look messy.

Isolation

Isolation is crucial to the health of the natural lash, but it can also determine how the lashes look and feel in the end. Without proper isolation, the eyelashes will be hard to brush and will grow out poorly. With proper isolation, the lashes will look more natural, will feel better for the client, and will grow out healthy.

Correct Amount of Adhesive

Not too little and not too much, the amount of adhesive should be just right. Adhesive is key for retention and lash health but too much adhesive will show in the end result. You do not want clumps, excess dried adhesive, or stickies.

Corner to Corner

A good lash set will look more finished if it is completed corner to corner. Of course there are exceptions to the rule based on the clients needs and wants, but in general if you are skipping out on the inner or outer corners it will show. Wether you are aiming for 100% coverage or not, covering corner to corner will complete the look.

Graduation

Eyelash extensions should gradually increase or decrease in size without harsh jumps. Again, some specific styling can be an exception to the rule but with intention. A good rule of thumb is to not skip numbers when changing the size of the lash. The graduation can be steep or drawn out but good lashes have good transitions.

Complimentary

A lash set may have good direction, isolation, graduation, and be covered corner to corner but if the lashes do not compliment the client’s eyes it will take away from good lashes. Eyelash extensions should accentuate the client’s eyes not hide them, weigh them down, or overwhelm the face. With proper shaping, sizing, and weight there are lashes for everyone!
