WORKING WITH SENSITIVE EYES

WORKING WITH SENSITIVE EYES

Sensitivity varies between clients, some clients are unbothered and don’t show any symptoms while others can’t help but have watery eyes, redness, or jittery eyelids. Here’s a few ways to troubleshoot sensitive eyes and keep our clients comfortable!

Keep the Eyes Closed

If your client’s eyes bother easily, it is best to keep the eyes closed as much as possible. Try applying the eye pads and tape with their eyes closed and a little help from your hand manipulating the eyelid. I’ve found that the under eye tape doesn’t move into the client’s eye if it is placed into position with the eyes closed.

Open Eyes = No Light

Anytime your client’s eyes are going to be open make sure your overhead light is off. Before and after the appointment! The light can be one of the main sources of sensitivity so we want to limit it as much as possible.

Avoid Strong Smells

Say no to smelly soaps, hand sanitizer, or lotion when working with a client. The strong smells can cause burning and watering eyes if it comes in close contact—which our hands do! Even with sent free products, make sure your hands are totally dry before touching your client to avoid getting any product or fumes in their eyes.

Recommend No Caffeine

If your client’s eyes are jittery and cannot be calmed it can cause watering, it can cause the eye pads to move, and it is all around harder to work with. Recommend your client go caffeine free before their appointment and see if that helps!

Save the Chatting

When clients talk it can cause a lot of movement  and can be the culprit of sensitive eyes. If this is the case recommend that your client brings headphones or play music, podcasts, or audiobooks for them.
