DISPOSING ADHESIVE DROPS: 3 WAYS TO AVOID AN EXOTHERMIC REACTION

Cyanoacrylate is an ingredient in all adhesives that can create an exothermic reaction (HEAT!) if it comes in contact with cotton or lint. If you are using multiple drops of adhesive during each client and seeing multiple clients a day that’s a lot of adhesive drops. Here’s 3 ways to safely dispose your adhesive drops!

1. Shock Cure

One way to make sure your adhesive is not going to react with anything in your trash is to make sure it is cured fully first. You can use water to instantly cure adhesive drops. Use a drop of water directly on your adhesive and watch it cure!

2. 24 Hour Rule

You know how we recommend clients wait 24 hours before getting their lashes wet, so the adhesive has a chance to cure? Similar to that, if you set your adhesive drops to the side and let them cure fully on their own they will be safe to dispose of! I personally drop my adhesive onto a strip of paper tape and when I’m finished with that client I place the piece of tape onto a separate tile and let it cure overnight.

3. Separate Trash

You don’t want to dispose of uncured adhesive with your other trash that probably contains some cotton materials. So, another way to ensure your adhesive is not going to react inside of your trash is to have a separate adhesive trash where nothing else is thrown.
