SET YOUR FILLS UP FOR SUCCESS

It is our job to have our clients leave with their lashes looking and feeling good, but we also want our clients returning in the same condition. For our client’s sake, for the artist that works on them next, and for ourselves it is better to set up your fills for success from the start! Here’s a few sure fire ways to work smarter not harder and ensure your fills are returning in good working condition.

Isolation is Key

The number one application technique that will cause the most headache later is poor isolation. For appearance, retention, longevity, and everything in between, proper isolation is KEY. Isolate during application and double check for sticky eyelashes after application to prevent any two lashes sticking together. Poor isolation will result in lashes being hard to remove and creates problems with natural growth.

Just the Right Amount of Adhesive

Think Goldilocks, not too little and not too much, but just the right amount of adhesive. You will thank your past self for using the right amount of adhesive when your client returns. Too much adhesive will likely affect isolation, create too much weight, and be hard to remove once grown out. Too little adhesive will affect retention and your clients will return sparse.

All Lashes Point in the Right Direction

Direction is important when placing the lashes because placing the lashes with bad direction will be very apparent as the lashes grow out. If you are not placing the lash with a purposeful direction, when the lashes return they can be twisted, upside down, perpendicular, and all around “wonky.” Filling lashes is a lot easier and faster if you are not working against lashes in all directions.

Clear Shaping + Take Notes

You can set yourself up for success with perfect isolation, adhesive, and direction but if your client returns and you can’t tell what shape was there then you’ve found yourself in a pickle. Try to keep your shaping simple and readable so your fills are consistent. It is always a good idea to keep client notes, but especially If your map and shape are complex and you want to repeat the look.

As Always, Good Aftercare

As the lash artists, we can do everything perfect on our end but if our fills return “trashed” then it is likely due to poor aftercare. Educate your clients! Show them pictures of how their lashes are returning! Charge more for dirty lashes, picked lashes, or consistent problems!
